Kittredge House, Roxbury. 1836.

The Alvah Kittredge House, in Roxbury, dates from 1836. Once grand, it was almost abandoned and derelict until a recent restoration by Historic Boston, Inc. Mayor Walsh and neighborhood dignitaries attended the celebration of this work last week. Afterwards, some clean-up workers and balloons were still there. A Greek Revival classic.  Preservation at work.

Above photo of the week: St. Anthony Fiesta

The Fiesta of St. Anthony of Padua begins today in Boston’s North End. Named “Feast of all Feasts” and voted “Best of Boston”, the festival was begun by immigrants from Montefalcione. This image made from the scaffolding behind their stage.  A low-altitude aerial. I made a video that runs on their website http://www.stanthonysfeast.com
