Fan Pier, Boston: 1987 and September, 2014 aerial views. Altitude 1400 ft. Schweitzer 300 helicopter; Taylor Chase = pilot. Anthony’s Pier 4 restaurant, bottom center, is now closed. The Moakley Federal Courthouse is almost obscured by the new Vertex buildings in the center.

The Alvah Kittredge House, in Roxbury, dates from 1836. Once grand, it was almost abandoned and derelict until a recent restoration by Historic Boston, Inc. Mayor Walsh and neighborhood dignitaries attended the celebration of this work last week. Afterwards, some clean-up workers and balloons were still there. A Greek Revival classic.  Preservation at work.
